PP Pistol made by Manurhin for the German Police of Lower Saxonia County.
A small historical introduction. After the WW2 the Walther company did not have a production facility, so they relied on Manurhin to produce their firearms. This was for many years, even when, at the end of the 1950s, Walther restarted production at Ulm. in fact, since the Manurhin had done a good job at acceptable production costs, Walther decided to let the production of the PP / PPK series in France. Then the guns were shipped across the border to Ulm, where they were blued, stamped "Made in Germany" and proof fired.
The model showed here was produced in France in 1954 by "Manufacture de Machines du Haut-Rhin" - best known as "Manurihn" - factory located in Mulhouse-Bourtzwiller, in the Upper Rhine, expressly for the German Police of Lower Saxony Country. Infact these acronyms are engraved on the frame and on the slide:
"LPN", West Germany postwar police stamp code. LPN stands for Landespolizei Niedersachsen - the County Police of Lower Saxonia , and
"Nds" that stands for Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony).
The pistol is in mint conditions and retains about 90% of its metal finish. The bluing is largely intact with well visible inscriptions and markings.
It'a a Double and Single Action, with a fixed blade front sight and a square notch rear sight set in a dovetail adjustable for windage. The grips are checkered black plastic with the MANURHIN logo and "LIC. WALTHER.PP" inscription.
The left side of the slide is marked “MANUFACTURE DE MACHINES - DU HAUT-RHIN”, the “MANURHIN logo, "Made in France” and “LIC. EXCL. WALTHER / MOD.PP Cal. 7.65mm”; in the right side there is “Nds” inside a square.
The "Nds inside a square" stamp is also on the left side of the frame, behind the trigger. On the right side of the frame there is the“LPN abbreviation and the serial number.
The Paris House proof marks are on the cartdrige chamber, visible through the ejection port, on the right side of the slide and on the frame, close to the serial number.
The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp, as new is the muzzle crown.
7,65 mm caliber.
